S.O.S. for Curacao.

The Savaanhuis is a facility providing therapy and structured learning for children who experience difficulties in their daily lives because of disabilities like autism or social emotional problems of any kind. The Savaanhuis provides a safe, cozy, warm and stimulating environment. In this environment children play and learn to improve their strengths and to stimulate different skills, for example social skills. In the holiday periods, the Savaanhuis makes itself available to children that need a bit more attention, they can stay over and unwind and have lots of fun.

On Saturday 4th of April 2009 the Savaanhuis in conjunction with the team members of Silent Immersion Curacao N.V have organized a fundraising event

“Savaanhuis Ocean Splash (S.O.S.)”

This event has a dual purpose: raising funds and awareness for the Savaanhuis and
protection of the precious reefs of Curacao. We will organize a beach and underwater reef clean-up at the Caracasbaai beach. This beach is chosen as it is one of the few public beaches on this side of the island and we feel this is the best way to give directly back to the people who use it.

We invite all divers and non-divers to participate at this event. Entry fee for divers is Naf 35- (includes equipment and tanks). All proceeds will go directly to the Savaanhuis. Please PRE-BOOK dive equipment with the dive center on or before the 28th March.

After your efforts at the beach and underwater cleanup we would like to invite you to the S.O.S BBQ and Happy Hour at the dive center itself, Silent Immersion, Caracasbaaiweg 276.

(Tickets at Naf 20,- are available for purchase at the dive center) all proceeds go to the Savaanhuis. Tickets can be pre-booked on or before the 28th March. DJ Boogieman will provide music and Barry Hay of the Golden Earring will present a raffle with lots of great prizes.

Please come and join us for the S.O.S. on April 4th. We start at 9:00 for the beach cleanup and the BBQ will be from 13:00-16:00. Both events start at Silent Immersion.

Savaanhuis Ocean Splash (S.O.S.)

Het Savaanhuis is opgericht om kinderen, die in het dagelijks leven moeilijkheden ondervinden als gevolg van een stoornis als autisme of sociale problematiek, in hun ontwikkeling te ondersteunen en te stimuleren. Het Savaanhuis biedt een veilige, warme en gestructureerde leeromgeving waar kinderen spelenderwijs en in omgang met elkaar verschillende vaardigheden ontplooiien en verbeteren, zoals sociale vaardigheden. In de schoolvakanties wordt het Savaanhuis omgetoverd in een “logeerhuis” waar kinderen, die net iets meer aandacht nodig hebben, in een huiselijke en gezellige omgeving een paar dagen kunnen genieten.

Op zaterdag 4 april 2009 organiseert Silent Immersion Curaçao N.V. in samenwerking met het Savaanhuis een geldinzamelingsactie geheten:

“Savaanhuis Ocean Splash (S.O.S.)”

Dit event heeft een tweeledige doelstelling: het inzamelen van donaties voor het Savaanhuis en de bescherming van de kwetsbare riffen van Curaçao

Om enerzijds iets terug te doen voor de bevolking van Curaçao en anderzijds het Savaanhuis te ondersteunen, organiseren wij een “beach and reef clean-up” op het strand van Caracasbaai. Dit strand is specifiek gekozen, omdat dit een van de weinige publieke stranden aan deze zijde van het eiland is en wij het gevoel hebben dat dit de beste manier is om iets terug te geven aan de mensen die van dit strand gebruik maken.

Wij nodigen alle duikers en niet-duikers uit om aan deze actie mee te doen. De entreeprijs voor duikers is Naf 35,- (inclusief duikmateriaal en tanks). Het is verstandig om voor of op 28 maart uw duikmateriaal en tickets voor de bbq bij Silent Immersion te reserveren want op=op. Het ingezamelde geld zal geheel gedoneerd worden aan het Savaanhuis.

Na al ons harde werken op het strand en in de zee, wordt u door Silent Immersion uitgenodigd voor de S.O.S. barbecue en Happy Hour in het duikcentrum, Caracasbaaiweg 276 (tickets voor naf. 20,- kunt u kopen bij Silent Immersion). DJ Boogieman zal zorgen voor de muzikale entertainment en Barry Hay van de Golden Earring zal een loterij presenteren waar heel veel mooie prijzen te winnen zijn.

Kom dus allemaal gezellig op 4 april naar S.O.S. We beginnen om 9.00 uur met de beach- en reef clean-up. De barbecue start om 13.00 uur en eindigt om 16.00 uur. Zowel de bbq als de beach en reef clean-up gaan bij Silent Immersion van start, Caracasbaaiweg 276. Het Savaanhuis is dankbaar voor alle donaties die voor, tijdens of na de S.O.S. worden gegeven. U kunt tevens een donatie storten op de bankrekening van S.O.K.H t.a.v. S.O.S. het Savaanhuis.
